INTRODUCTION...

Welcome to our family blog!!!

I started this blog because it was the best way to keep in touch with family and friends who live near and far. Now I keep the blog because it gives me a place to capture memories we make as a family. I have to say, however, that most of my postings are about the kids!

Mikayla Anne or Mia for short, is turning 4 this year and she is growing way too fast! She is our little princess and has her Daddy wrapped around her little finger. She loves anything that is pink and purple. She is probably the girlest girl you'll ever meet!

Daniel John is 2 1/2 years old, but you'll never guess it because he is small and so very cute. He is our little sweetheart. Daniel is mischievous but really sweet. He loves to give hugs and kisses to anyone who wants one! He will forever be our baby boy!

I hope you enjoy keeping in touch with us and watching the kids grow as much as I enjoy sharing our memories on the blog with you!

MY LITTLE TROUBLE MAKER

Daniel loves to climb on EVERYTHING and he has no fear what so ever!!! He started climbing furniture before he learned how to crawl or stand! Some might say he's a born climber! He makes me nervous! I have to keep a close eye on this little guy at ALL TIMES!

MIKAYLA'S NEW DRESS FROM MAMA

My mom sent this dress for Mikayla for a late Christmas gift. She looked so adorable in it, however, she was having a bad hair day that morning :0( ... Thank you Mama! One of the few things my little girl loves of course are toys, dresses and shoes!!! She is such a girly girl! I'm so thankful that I have a girl! She is such a joy to me and John! Recently, she has become such a big helper to me! I can ask her to get stuff for me and she often asks, "Mommy, can I help you?" I'm a little sad that she is growing up too fast! But I have to say, I can't wait to do more with her and share experiences with her!

DANIEL'S HAIRCUT

Yep, I did it... I hate cutting his hair because first of all, he never sits still and second, I really can't cut straight!!! But I'm too cheap to pay someone to do it! Ha ha! But even with a bad haircut he's still very cute!! Ok...I'm a little biased...

MORE CATCHING UP...

New Years Eve..
After Christmas celebrations of course came the New Year. This year, like every year, our church has a watch night service which is a lot fun. We eat, play games, and eat some more until after 12am. We played spoons which was really fun especially for those who have never played it before. Mikayla stayed up the whole time and she was really good. She usually starts getting cranky when she's tired but she just played and enjoyed herself. Daniel, on the other hand, was out by 9pm and didn't wake up until we headed home. John and I were relieved that the kids both went straight to bed as soon as we got home. We didn't get up the next morning until 10am! It took the kids two days to get back to their normal schedule again...

John's trip to Vancouver..
This month, John's new job sent him to Vancouver for some training. We had planned on coming with him but it just never panned out. The tickets were so expensive and it just wouldn't be worth it for us to go for only four days. So he got to see beautiful Vancouver, family, and friends without us. We missed him very much even though he was only gone for a short time. I think Daniel missed him the most though. He is such a Daddy's boy! He looked for his Daddy every day, especially at night time. Once, I brought him to our bed and he laid his head on John's pillow and just started crying a sad cry. My heart just about broke! Even though Mikayla is a Mommy's girl she still looked for a her Daddy every night. But she knew that Daddy was bringing presents home from the grandparents so she wanted Daddy to come soon too! John came home at 6:30am on Wednesday morning and Mikayla was already up and ready to meet her Daddy at the door! The first thing she said to him was, "where's my presents Daddy?" Well...her Grandma, Grandpa, Mama, Papa, Uncle Julius and Auntie Sally did not disappoint her at all! She is enjoying all the presents she received from them! Daniel woke up soon after Daddy came home and you can just tell he was glad his Daddy was home. He laid his little head on Daddy's shoulder and just stayed like that for a long time. Now, whenever he sees Daddy leave any room, he cries! What a guy!

Brrrr.........it is freezing!
We've had such a funny winter... one week its warm with plus weather and the next week we're back to the bitter cold sub-zero weather! We've had quite a bit of snow too! Most of it is melted now but there was one day when we had so much snow in one day! The tree in front of our house was mostly covered in snow! So, while there was snow, we took advantage of it and took the kids out. Daniel didn't know what to think of it but mostly because he can't really move around in his snow suit. Mikayla, at first, cried when her hands got cold then later she figured out how to keep them warm--by actually wearing her gloves! Silly girl!
Since Sunday, we have had bitter cold weather... its so cold that just from our front door to the van we're already frozen! I can't wait for warmer weather.. I hope it comes soon!

CATCHING UP......

The last major event we celebrated was obviously CHRISTMAS! This previous year was extra special because Mikayla has a better understanding of what goes on. It was certainly fun to buy presents for the kids and even more fun to watch their faces as they opened them! Mikayla has now decided that Christmas is her most favorite because she was spoiled by so many! Daniel was oblivious to everything, all he knows is that there's new toys for him to play with. I'm sure this coming Christmas will be even more special as the kids will both better understand the greatest gift of all: Jesus Christ!

Every year (since they were born) the kids get new pajamas from Auntie Manda and they wear them on Christmas Eve!

Mikayla's big present from Mommy and Daddy was a princess tricycle. She's still a little too short to reach the pedals but by summer time I'm sure she'll get the hang of it and probably be begging me to take it out! Daniel's big gift was a big yellow dump truck! And he just loved it! It is as big as he is! He usually pushes it around the house and uses it as a stepping stool to help him climb on furniture!

On the 25th, we had dinner with the Cooks and opened presents there but unfortunately did not take any pictures! The next day, on the 26th, Nanny and Poppy Lindeman (adopted grandparents and maybe grandparents in training) came over for dinner, which only means one thing: more presents!

The Lindeman family, the closest to a family we have in Ontario! AKA Nanny, Poppy, Auntie Manda, Joy and Tim.

The following Sunday, the kids got to wear their Christmas outfits from Nanny and Poppy and they looked so adorable!
