INTRODUCTION...

Welcome to our family blog!!!

I started this blog because it was the best way to keep in touch with family and friends who live near and far. Now I keep the blog because it gives me a place to capture memories we make as a family. I have to say, however, that most of my postings are about the kids!

Mikayla Anne or Mia for short, is turning 4 this year and she is growing way too fast! She is our little princess and has her Daddy wrapped around her little finger. She loves anything that is pink and purple. She is probably the girlest girl you'll ever meet!

Daniel John is 2 1/2 years old, but you'll never guess it because he is small and so very cute. He is our little sweetheart. Daniel is mischievous but really sweet. He loves to give hugs and kisses to anyone who wants one! He will forever be our baby boy!

I hope you enjoy keeping in touch with us and watching the kids grow as much as I enjoy sharing our memories on the blog with you!

Making Memories...

I changed the title of our blog to "making memories that last a lifetime," because that's exactly what we do! We make memories every day and most of it, if not all, we are able to capture on camera! We are so privileged to be able to do just that! I love looking at pictures and looking at how much the kids have changed and grown. I find myself standing in awe at God's goodness to my family. God has blessed us so much and I know we don't deserve it. God is good..ALL THE TIME!

APPLE PICKIN'

We took the kids apple picking for the first time and we had a great time! The apples at the bottom were just the right height for the kids to pick easily; although, it did take Daniel a few tries to pull them off the tree. The kids were great apple pickers; in no time at all, we had filled our bag more than half full! It didn't take them a long time long to taste an apple...or two...

Daddy's good little model..

Most of the time, Mikayla lets her Daddy take pictures of her especially on Sundays when she is all dressed up for church and after 10 or 20 shots of her, 3 or so actually turn out!!! My kids are so used to getting their pictures taken that right after they're all dressed up they run to Daddy and say, "take a picture of me Daddy!"

Buskerfest 2008

John loves to go to all kinds of events in Downtown Toronto, mostly to shoot some pictures, although, with two kids and no stroller, it was hard for him to really get any good shots. Nevertheless, we enjoyed walking around St. Lawrence Market and looking at different things. Unfortunately, the performers for the Buskerfest were hard to see because of the crowds, but I don't think we missed out on much! :0)

JUST US 4...again..

After spending 3 weeks in Vancouver and after having my parents here for 2 1/2 weeks, I couldn't wait to get back to our "normal" life. Yesterday, we went to Lakeshore and the kids enjoyed playing in the playground and Daddy enjoyed taking pictures of them!

Our Living Room

We are slowly doing one room at a time. Once we have the rest of our house done, I'll be sure to post them up!

Mikayla's Room

Mikayla's room is one of the rooms that we decided to do first. My parents got her a bed frame and a quilt set for her birthday. The dresser was given to us by the Cooks (it was Rachel's, before that, another family had it for their kids). My dad painted the dresser pink to go with her pink and green theme.

OUR TRIP TO VANCOUVER

As most of you can see, my blog posts lately have not been in any chronological order. Besides pictures of our new beautiful house, I'm ALMOST all caught up with my blog posts!

There's so much to share about our trip to Vancouver! It was certainly more enjoyable with the kids just a little older this year. Mikayla understands so much more and with her incredible memory she still talks about the places we went and the people she met.

Getting ready to go... we left at 7am!

We stopped at Tim's for breakfast before crossing the border

Arriving at the Airport!

This year, to save money, we flew from Buffalo to Cincinnati and then to Seattle. It turned out to be a very long and tiring trip. Trying to keep the kids happy in the plane was a challenge in itself! But we made it!

Mom and Dad picked us up from Seattle Airport and brought us to a All-You-Can-Eat Buffet. It was late for us (Mikayla slept the whole time!) but the food was delicious!

We stayed with John's parents for 2 weeks and then when John left to go home, we stayed with my parents.

Since Daniel is into trains, we decided to take him to the Model Train Museum in Granville Island and Julius came along.

Julius got the kids bubbles from the toy shop in Granville Island

We went to Splashdown Park one day and Mikayla thoroughly enjoyed herself. Daniel is not a big fan of swimming pools because of his eczema but he enjoyed watching his sister and relaxing by the water!

Well..that's it! Vancouver was the highlight of our summer (besides our new home, of course!). We had a wonderful time and can't wait for our next visit!
